Birth Petroglyph

Hawaiian Birth Petroglyph is uniquely rough cast from a reclaimed aluminum alloy. They can hang on a wall, as a object d'art on the coffee table or even in the kitchen as a trivet.

Hawaiian Petroglyphs are relief-reversed sculptures carved into lava rock by ancient Hawaiians that recorded important objects, honoring animals, families, births, warriors, hunting, royalty, etc. On the Big Island there are thousands of these carvings scattered about in lava fields - places that have little vegetation to degrade them.

This design is my cumulative translation of the many petroglyphs depicting birth, pregnancy, mother and child.
